Earth Day Open House Saturday 4/22 11-3

Celebrating Earth Day supports the deeper mission of the store: to care for the environment.

We feel it's our duty to offer the community education and awareness of issues like: conservation, recycling, organic farming, the importance of supporting local farmers and artisans and stewardship of the land and animals.

This year the folks from the Lackawanna River Corridor will be in store demonstrating the value of recycling rain water with a rain barrel as well as other things we can do to insure the vitality of our river into the future. We also hope to have a live hive on display to explain the important role bees play in the ecology of the region we live in.

Another highlight of the even is the Community Pledge Board where we invite each individual to write a pledge of something they can do personally to take care of the earth. Also, our Great Organic Apple Giveaway! Everyone who attends the even can take home a free organic apple.

We also have live music by Jacob Cole and his Handpans, a storytelling and craft for children, food sampling by Terra Preta, Wild for Salmon, and Rowlands Hydroponic Greens!
